The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for the 7th Annual P3 Awards: A National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet. P3 supports undergraduate and graduate R&D and design solutions to real world challenges involving the overall sustainability of human society. Areas include: Energy, Built Environment, Materials and Chemicals, Water, and Agriculture. $850K expected to be available, up to 46 awards anticipated. Responses due 1/5/10.
The P3 competition seeks innovative, science-based design proposals from eligible institutions. The Phase I grants, up to $10,000, are intended to support an interdisciplinary team of undergraduate and/or graduate students to develop their projects in preparation for competing for a Phase II grant award, up to $75,000, to demonstrate their proposed designs. In Phase I, the EPA will fund approximately 40 student design projects from around the country during the 2009-2010 academic year to research and develop their sustainable designs.
